If there’s one look I want to die immediately this season, it’s the Louis Vuitton checker print. Literally everyone and their mom has been seen wearing items from the Spring 2013 line, with every iteration available popping up on the glossies and red carpets emphasizing that it really does not work on actual people. The ad campaign looked great, the magazine editorials came out even better, but the print is just terribly unflattering on even the most beautiful people and celebs have driven it into the ground already, and it’s not even February. Creative director Marc Jacobs did a much better job going mod in his eponymous line. Watch how the magazines trick women into thinking checkered print could work for them, specifically by placing Sienna Miller, one of the most gorgeous women in the world, front and center in Harper’s Bazaar UK. It does not work for them! Stop it!!
Okay Sienna, you win this one.
I will say one nice thing and one nice thing only. The only person who managed to pull this off complete was Kristen Stewart and I’ll tell you why. She did two things right: 1. She went with the larger checks, and 2. She’s wearing shorts. There is way too much going on on everyone else. The less fabric, the better. KStew rocked it.
