Azealia Banks is putting herself on the fashion map this fall, collaborating with MAC and Fashion’s Night Out, an annual event designed to restore confidence in the industry during the recession. The fierce rapper from Harlem, whose single “212” debuted in 2011, is the face of Yung Rapunxel ($15), a creamy, dark plum lipstick with a semi-matte finish named after her alter ego.
Banks is known as a formidable competitor of Nicki Minaj, with their Twitter drama circulating the blogosphere earlier this month. Despite their beef, Banks seems to be following in her predecessor’s footsteps. Minaj, who also likes to go by her many aliases, released her own shade of MAC Viva Glam lipstick in February.
Yung Rapunxel will be available online September 5, and in stores from September 6 to 20. Fashion’s Night Out takes place on September 6 at events all over the world. Visit the FNO page to find an event near you. (Local ladies, visit FNO Boston.)
